When Your Runner’s High Lets You Down

Are you or someone you know suffering from nagging, debilitating running injuries? Getting injured while running, or experiencing an injury that sidelines you from running, can be very unwelcome. The bad news for running enthusiasts is that the constant, pounding impact of surface running can wear out your bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments. The good news is that with holistic, non-invasive chiropractic care from an experienced sports chiropractor, you can start your recovery from running injuries as soon as possible. As exhilarating and therapeutic as running is for mobile exercisers, Running Injuries can be deflating, depressing, and even infuriating. If you or someone you know has experienced Running Injuries or can’t run because of other related injuries, Planet Chiropractic can help! Call today!

4 Out of Every 5 Runners Will Suffer from Running Injuries

Whether you’re a long time running enthusiast, competitive race runner, avid power walker, casual stroller, or you are brand new to surface running, you likely know that running for exercise has two very diametrically opposed sides. There’s the favorable side: the cardio enhancing, muscle toning, endorphin releasing side that we all love and pine for. Then there’s the achy, annoying, maddening side of running injuries. Whether your injuries are brand new, nagging, completely debilitating, or just hindering enough to cause you discomfort, running injuries can cause the great aspects of running to have increasingly diminishing returns. Do you or someone you know suffer from major or minor running injuries? If so, we urge you to consider specialized chiropractic care for your continued health and rehabilitation.

Twisted Ankles Make Jack a Frustrated Boy

Jack be nimble. Jack be quick. Jack sprained his ankle trying to sprint the downhill leg of his daily run. So, what happened? Did Jack not stretch out enough? Was he going for a new record? Was his new girlfriend racing him? Was he listening to his favorite song and imagining he was in a highlight video? Whatever Jack did to mess up his ankle, it’s probably going to take some time before he feels anywhere near back up to full strength. Most ankle sprains involve tears of one or more of the ligaments along the outside of the ankle. Ankle injuries seem to often be the result of a quick, unfortunate occurrence, like running too fast around a corner or landing awkwardly on an unforeseen object.

Knee Sprains & Strains Can Sideline New or Experienced Runners

“Runner’s knee,” as opposed to most ankle injuries, can sneak up on you slowly. Even if a twisting or hyperextended instance takes place, knee injuries are often brought about by repeated wear and tear on the many connecting parts of your knee. Knee ligaments, including the larger external, supportive ligaments and the smaller, internal, stabilizing ligaments, can also be torn. Both of these injuries can lead to a runner, like Jack, favoring one side of their body over the other—resulting in long-term structural issues. If you or someone you know suffers from this, or any other running injuries or other structurally-based injuries that are preventing you from running, contact Planet Chiropractic today!
